Size and file format
Every marketplace declares a minimum edge, a recommended edge, a maximum edge and a file size cap. Export to the recommended edge — going larger wastes bandwidth and can trip the maximum, going smaller fails the minimum outright.
| Marketplace | Minimum edge | Recommended edge | File cap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon | 1000 px | 2000 px | 10 MB |
| Rakuten | 500 px | 1024 px | 2 MB |
| Shopee | 500 px | 1600 px | 10 MB |
| Default when a marketplace does not publish one | 800 px | 2048 px | 20 MB |
The exact numbers for your pair are shown in step 1 of the inspection wizard. The table above is a sample, not the full list.
The main image
- Pure white background on most marketplaces. Off-white or a photographed backdrop is flagged as a quality issue.
- Product only. No added text, no badges, no watermarks, no borders, no collage.
- The product should fill roughly 85 percent of the frame.
- No lifestyle props on the main image — keep those for gallery slots.
What the quality check looks at
Beyond the hard specification limits, the engine measures the image itself and reports quality findings.
| Check | Why it fires |
|---|---|
| Too dark or too bright | Average luminance falls outside the readable range. |
| Background not white | The main image background is not close enough to pure white. |
| Embedded metadata | EXIF data including GPS coordinates or camera serials is still attached. |
| Low effective resolution | The file is large but the visible detail is not. |
Format conversion, resizing and metadata stripping are all automatic fixes. You do not need to re-export by hand for those three.
Text baked into images
Claims printed inside an image are treated exactly like claims in the listing text. A banner reading "No.1 in the world" or "100% safe" fails the expression check wherever it appears. Keep superlatives, medical claims and competitor names out of the artwork, because an image fix means re-exporting the file yourself.
Phone numbers, messenger IDs and external shop URLs inside images are a common cause of account suspension. Remove them before uploading.
